valuable resource, you probably already know one of the dirty little
secrets of book publishing: You are responsible for marketing your
book.
You used to think the publisher would get the word out about your book,
right? That's not your job - your job is to write the book. The
publisher is supposed to take care of everything else, right?
Wrong.
The truth is, even when your publisher assigns a staff publicist to
your title, you have that person's (limited) attention for only a short
period of time. That in-house publicist is very busy promoting not just
your new book, but the new books of a lot of other authors, too. And
once your book isn't "new" anymore, you get no attention or support.
Period.
Really. It's all up to you.
And I can help.
I learned about this the hard way. My publisher didn't have the staff
to take advantage of the publicity potential of my first book, WHY
CAN'T A MAN BE MORE LIKE A WOMAN?, so I launched my own on-going
campaign and eventually sold out the book.
I appeared on several national TV talk shows - I even gave holiday
shopping advice to actor George Segal (TV's "Just Shoot Me") and
supervised a Stupid Men Tricks race on "Crook & Chase" on The Nashville
Network. I was interviewed by more than 100 radio stations, newspapers
and magazines and generated several paid media spokesperson assignments
that got my book priceless exposure on the CBS Early Show, in The New
York Times, and other key media outlets coast-to-coast.
It wasn't any different with my two subsequent books. Streetwise
Complete Publicity Plans: How to Create Publicity That Will Spark Media
Exposure and Excitement, was published in the spring of 2003, but I
still do several interviews a month to promote it to its target
audience. It's been featured in many magazines ranging from
Entrepreneur to Sam's Club Source to Financial Planning Association
Solutions. And in December 2006, I appeared on MSNBC-TV's "Your
Business" show to talk about the lessons from my third book, Publicity
for Nonprofits: Generating Media Exposure That Leads to Awareness,
Growth, and Contributions.
There's no way I could afford to buy that kind of exposure as
advertising - which is why this FREE publicity is so valuable to
authors like us.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
